The Nissan Pathfinder has always been a great vehicle to own in the past and in my opinion that has yet to change. Nissan has always at least maintained the quality of previous models and in most cases, if not all, surpassed it. That is definitely the case with the new Nissan Pathfinder ST as well. With competitors such as Pajero and Toyota, the new Pathfinder needed to set itself above the rest for the general public to choose their vehicle above any of the competition. The only questions left is did they succeed in doing this? If you compare the Nissan Pathfinder up against the Pajero, Klugel, the race is pretty close to call. With both vehicles being more than capable of the needs they are used for along with comfortable seating and versatility, they both prove to be great vehicles.
One thing that does set them apart however is the look and styling. When you first take a look at the new Nissan Pathfinder ST you will be greeted with a tasteful and great looking vehicle. You will certainly notice that it was built to be versatile and that is never a bad thing when owning a 4×4. The Pathfinder’s appearance is very functional and fits the car quite well. If you are looking for a vehicle that has a strong and rugged appearance then you are certainly in the right place. Though it may appear a little bit boxy to some, I wouldn’t change the look of the vehicle even if I could. It doesn’t have any extreme designs, but it is more of a modern and practical vehicle. One thing worth noting however is the humongous 255/70 R16 tires that gives you the feeling of a high riding sedan. Although this can make driving around town and in the city a bit more tedious than it should be, this really isn’t even a problem once you get used to its size.
The interior of the new Pathfinder was designed in Spain, and is just as impressive as the exterior. You won’t find any cheap materials being used even in the standard models. You also won’t find yourself short on room in most cases. The interior is extremely spacious and is great for those who are toting around a lot of goods and families. People who have larger families tend to flock to the Nissan Pathfinder for this very reason. When you are trying to take the family out or on a trip, the Pathfinder simplifies this by offering its abundance of space to provide enough room for a family and all of their luggage without cramming anything or anyone in the vehicle.
As I stated above the Nissan Pathfinder is not a small vehicle by any means. The only downfall to this would be trying to park it. Because of the thick C and D pillars this task can be a little harder than parking a small car, but that is really to be expected when driving any vehicle of this type and style. The pillars found in most sedans do create unwanted blind spots, but for any experienced driver this really wouldn’t be that big of a deal. If you have driven a vehicle like this in the past then you are already good to go, and even if you are new to this it will only take a short time to get used to how to maneuver it.
Speaking of maneuvering and handling, the Pathfinder holds its own just as expected. Featuring the independent, double wishbone suspension in the front certainly helps matters. It also has multi link independent rear suspension that is used to replace the older rear axle of its predecessors. The Nissan Pathfinder is also sporting what they refer to as the All Mode AWD system. This system uses a yaw rate sensor and lateral G-force to make sure that the drive is distributed to the correct wheel when you are driving in rough and tough conditions. With these new additions to the vehicle it really isn’t a question of why it rides so smooth and handles so well.
If you test drive or purchase the new Pathfinder you will be given the option to go with the diesel or the petrol engine. I would recommend choosing the diesel engine for the obvious reason; they are the very cost effective. With that said, I think going with the 2.5 liter diesel engine and the 6 speed manual transmission would be a very wise choice. Not only does it push out a respectable amount of power, but it also has enough torque to please those who are towing larger things such as trailers. With an intercooled and turbocharged engine that operates as smoothly as the one found in this vehicle, it’s pretty hard to go wrong.
In conclusion, if you choose to go with the diesel engine you will find yourself with an extremely fuel efficient vehicle. Aside from being fuel friendly the Nissan Pathfinder ST has a great suspension system setup. Whether you are cruising down the street or having off road fun in the dirt and mud, the suspension system implemented in this sedan makes sure it keeps you comfortable without jarring or bouncing you around the vehicle. The drive that this vehicle gives you is more than enough reason to own one of these. The positives certainly don’t come to an end there. You can also enjoy the way the spacious interior is setup to provide you with optimal space. You will have more than enough room to take your family, friends, groceries, luggage, and much more anywhere you want without any complaints. After all, the Pathfinder has been known for many years as the perfect family vehicle to own. The new Nissan Pathfinder is also great looking in its appearance inside and out. It has a very modern and sophisticated look without overly screaming for attention and you won’t find use of any cheap parts or materials. Overall you will surely be pleased with this vehicle no matter what use you have in mind for it. Nissan has proven time and time again that is a trustworthy manufacturer for all types of vehicles, and as of now they are still going strong.
